If I were King….

Assalamu’alaikum and good morning to the honourable judges, teachers who I

respect, to all the competitors, and everyone who attending in this place, thank you
very much to give me time so I can stand up here in front all of you to deliver a
speech. Well, my name is Asyraf. Today, in this very special moment, let me stand
here to deliver a speech ‘ If I were King…’
Basically, a King is like a father to his subjects. A king must protect the people
living in his kingdom. He must look after their safety, food, education and health. I
believe everyone has a dream and my dream is to become a king. I want to be an
honest and a gentle king.
As a good king, I would be required to shoulder many responsibilities. My first
step is to carefully plan everything and I will make sure that everybody in my
kingdom has enough food, shelter and all the basic needs that they need to survive. I
would have levied taxes according to the financial capacity of my people and not
beyond their will. As a tax – collector, it would be my duty to look after their safety
and protection. I would have spent the majority of the money for the administration,
building new roads, bridges, schools, colleges and hospitals which would be used by
my people.
If I were a king, I wish to improve the health care system of my kingdom. I will
provide enough amount of money to set up new medical centers and employ
qualified doctors. My goal is to ensure that poor people are able to receive free
treatment and medicine here.
Besides, my main motive as a king will obviously to create a place with full
educated people where everyone is skilled at what they do. So, I will set up a special
school for the adults where they can choose and learn any skill they wished for.
Then from time to time, I shall go out in my kingdom in the disguise of a
common man to find out their problems and try to solve them. For me, this is very
important in order to make sure that people in my kingdom could live in peace and
harmony.
