Abstract:

Computer games are games that educate learners on certain skills, keeping them engaged and
entertained at the same time. This study will try to find out how these games can improve the
vocabulary of young learners. Its purpose is to investigate the impact of using computer games
on learners’ vocabulary acquisition. The sample consists of all elementary students in the school
“Blaze Koneski” school during the school year 2014-2015 . The participants of the study are 10
to 13 years old elementary school students. The total number of students is 56, from whom 26
female and 30 male students. Students are divided in two groups .One of the group receives the
treatment with the use of computer games, whereas the other group practices traditional learning
methods.

The study aims to find out whether computer games influence better acquisition of language and
motivate students’ learning. For this purpose and in order to understand the impact of computer
games in education especially on English language learning, it includes qualitative -descriptive
research methodology consisted of questioners, interviews, and classroom observations.
The second phase includes quantitative research instruments. The quantitative data collection
includes pre and posttests which examine the learners’ attitudes towards the computer games
