The new seven wonders of the world

They are named like this, to the monuments that won in a public and international
competition held in 2007, was inspired by the wonders of the ancient world.

The wonders were chosen by a massive campaign that was carried out worldwide;
more than one hundred million votes, through the Internet and SMS, resulted in
this new classification. The initiative was carried out by the entrepreneur Bernard
Weber.

Within the seven new wonders, was chosen the Taj Mahal in India, the
construction was made between 1631 and 1654 in the city of Agra, many workers
worked in the construction; the Taj Mahal is considered the most beautiful example
of a palace, a style that combines elements of Islamic, Persian, Indian and even
Turkish architecture.

The origin was given by the Muslim emperor Shah Jahan in honor of his third wife;
the third wife was the favorite, when she died, he decided to honor her with this
monument. The white marble was used to build the Taj mahal; sapphire,
amethysts, quartz and even diamonds were added.

Today it is one of the seven wonders of the modern world, and the most famous
and iconic monument in India, as well as one of the most recognized in the world.
Also, is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

The symbolic representation of earthly and heavenly life according to the Islamic
religion was given by the Taj mahal.
