The Importance of Nursing Research in this time of Health and Economic Crisis

Nursing research has an important influence on evidence-based health care

practice, care delivery, and policy. Nursing practice is saving lives in the pandemic,
and wide-ranging nursing research plays a critical role. Nurse researchers are working
to understand nurses' experiences in under‐resourced hospitals and nursing homes to
advance more supportive work environments that save patients' lives and promote
recovery. They are investigating how individuals sheltering at home manage diets that
affect their chronic conditions and how in-home nursing care can stabilize those
conditions. And they are uncovering lessons from the past that have significant policy
implications for today's coronavirus crisis.

In the weeks as the COVID-19 health crisis unfolded, several challenges to

responding effectively to the problem became evident: restricted access to health care,
surging demand for health care personnel, and the moral distress that health care
providers face. Nursing research in policy response and institutional preparedness
helped institutions better meet the pandemic's demands. The current outbreak has had
severe economic consequences globally, and it does not look like any country will be
unaffected.

We have lost many healthcare workers in this pandemic due to the lack of
comprehension regarding the virus. With the help of nurse researchers, the people will
understand the risks thoroughly and the importance of the safety precautions to avoid
catching the virus. With nursing research, healthcare workers will also figure out safe
and effective interventions in taking care of infected persons. The nursing research
will help and save the lives of the civilians of the community and the hospital
personnel as well.
