Mr. Antó nio Guterres

Executive-Secretary
United Nations
405 East 42nd Street
New York, 10017, USA

Dear Mr. António Guterres:

I would like to give my point of view before the problem that has been presenting itself for decades,
on technology and its effects on the environment. Technological advances arose with the intention
of improving the quality of life of man, but these have brought with them negative repercussions
such as the acceleration of environmental pollution, deforestation and countless problems that
today threaten the environment and life on the planet.

If current trends continue, I consider that a potentially dangerous climate change is approaching,
and the first thing that will happen is that there will be a shortage of natural resources, immediately
afterward greenhouse gas emissions will present a significant increase as a result of population
growth, increasing levels of consumption and economic development, etc. As expected, the global
temperature will rise, bringing the effects of land degradation, loss of water reserves, a decrease in
agricultural productivity, and human health will be seriously threatened.

I recommend that in the face of so many years of pollution and environmental damage, drastic
measures should be taken to achieve a substantial reduction in greenhouse gases, for this reason,
and according to sources that I read, I consider that the best solution would be solar panels and
wind turbines, which convert the sun and wind into electricity without releasing greenhouse gases.
I fully agree with what Gregory Nemet, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison said
who says "The fact that solar and wind energy are cheap and reliable and that they work well opens
up many possibilities", the measures to be taken are in the renewable energies to continue with
good sustainable development.

Sincerely,

Yoly M:osquera
