Airservices is a government owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally
responsible services to the aviation industry.
Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 140 million
passengers, and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace.
Airservices has two major operating centres in Melbourne and Brisbane and a corporate office in
Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic control towers at international and regional airports, and provide
aviation rescue firefighting services at 26 Australian airports.

Primary Purpose of Position

As the Aviation Regulatory Performance Specialist, you will lead a range of tasks to ensure successful
compliance with various aviation legislative and regulatory requirements. You will conduct related
assurance activities on the regulatory compliance of the safety management system. You will provide
specialist advice and consult and collaborate to define mutual interests and determine strategies to the
Safety Assurance Branch and the Regulatory Performance unit. You will represent Airservices
externally and participate at forums.
Additionally, you will directly participate in complex communication and reporting of regulatory
performance, the enhancement of business processes and identify emerging issues/risks and their
implication, and propose solutions.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 As a specialist, team member or sole representative identify, collect, evaluate and
communicate internal and external safety intelligence that informs, enhances and addresses
the aviation regulatory performance of Airservices.
 Lead technical support to Airservices internal stakeholders to manage safety regulatory
compliance matters
 Lead technical support to Airservices external stakeholders to manage safety regulatory
compliance matters
 Lead assurance activities on Airservices regulatory compliance and performance
 Build and maintain constructive and effective engagement with our safety regulator, Civil
Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and

Cities (DIRDC) ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Program and State Safety Programme
Cross-Agency Team, and the Australian Safety Bureau (ATSB) in coordination with Business
Groups
 Organise and prepare Airservices responses to ATSB and CASA reports in consultation with
internal business groups
 Validate the standards and practises in an effort to ensure compliance with various legislative
and regulatory requirements and the related application of the safety management system
 Primary point of contact for managing Airservices engagement with elements of CASA,
DIRDC and the ATSB in coordination with Business Groups
 Lead the coordination of responses and provide expert safety regulatory compliance guidance
to manage Airservices ICAO, including Standards and Recommended Practices; Protocol
Questions and filing of differences
 Lead the coordination of responses and provide expert safety regulatory compliance guidance
and support to manage ATSB investigations, analysis reports and voluntary and confidential
reports (REPCON)
 Provide expert safety regulatory compliance guidance and support on emerging safety
regulatory issues to Business Groups
 Support the independent assurance to the Executive and Board regarding Airservices safety
and regulatory compliance performance to inform the organisation’s decision making and
foster our safety reputation.
 Work in close consultation with other Safety Assurance managers and specialists, as well as
stakeholders across the organisation.
People
 Maintain an effective working relationship with other Airservices staff to ensure that there is
effective coordination of all activities in support of organisational objectives

CASA, ATSB and DIRDC)

Qualifications
 A qualification in aviation, safety, or a related field from an Australian tertiary, or recognised
equivalent institution, or have extensive demonstrated experience (at least 5 years’ or
equivalency able to be demonstrated) in aviation or safety-critical organisations
