( Third Revision } upc 621'882°082"1 C © Bis 1993 BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS MANAK BHAVAN, 9 BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR MARG NEW DELHI 110002 May 1993 Price Group 2 uM 14 NATIONAL FOREWORD This Indian Standard ( Part 1) which is identical with ISO 3508 : 1976 ‘Thread run-outs for fasteners with thread in accordance with ISO 261 and ISO 262’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization ( SO ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners Accessories Sectional Committee (LM 14) and approval of the Light Mechanical Engineering Division Council When 2 threading operation is not performed throughout the length of the component, then due to the necessary throat angle or taper lead on the screwing tool, the last few threads cannot be perfectly formed. The length of these washout threads makes the thread run-out on the ‘component. The standard IS 1369 “Dimensions for screw thread runouts and undercuts’ was originally published in 1961 and subsequently revised in 1975 and 1982. The present revision has been taken up to harmonize it with the corresponding SO standards and is being published in three parts as follows: 1S 1369 ( Part 1) Dimensions for screw thread run-outs for external ISO metric threads (Adoption of iSO 3508 : 1976 ) Is 1369 ( Part 2) Dimensions for screw thead under-cuts for external 1SO metric threads (Adoption of 180 4755 : 1983 ) 1S 1969 ( Part 3) Dimensions for thread run-outs and under-cuts for internal threads ( blind tapped holes ) ( under preparation ) The text of ISO Standard has been approved at suitable for publication Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: 2) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’. b) Comma (. ) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use point ( . ) as the decimal marker. In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their place are listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated: International Standard Corresponding Indian Standard Degree of Equivalence 180 261: 1973" I$ 4218 (Part 2) : 1976 ISO metric screw Technically threads : Part 2 Diameter pitch combinations equivalent (first revision ) 180 262: 1973" I$ 12241: 1987 ISO general purpose metric Identical ‘screw threads — Selected sizes for screws. bolts and nuts - | > “preps Yonp0%6 aut Ut Mop Ie 2 suow2nnbos[etBadsaseUm SH2UEISE) p9pEE NAL 9804) 02 Ae LOU seep 1 | ‘simu pue $1104 "smaszs soy | ey A198 21Nus asodand Prepueig revoneuiawuy siyy 2218 porsejes ~ speays masos sunew asodsnd 1e10U26 OS1 ‘292 OS| yum pur “ue/d seseves — sp /es@ua6 OS) "L982 OSI 4ivA souep0.9e UI pea: HU Yum SiaUaISe) 05 sinO-UNA pean soiyi20ds, NOIAVOIIddv 40 07314 GNY 3d008 1 (uolsinay puyy ) e SQva¥HL o14LaW Os! ‘WNUALXA HOS SLNO-NNY GVIYHL M3UOS HOd SNOISNAWIG | Luva SLNDY3IGNN GNV SLNO-NNY avayHs — SY3N3LSV4 psepuers ueipuy 9261 : BOSE OSI S661 = (4 Wed) opel st 18 1960 ( Part 1): 295 i | 180 3508: 1976 | Machen met olla thread | (shank hamese ~ sued ameter) (shank diomater™ pitch gamete) (shank diameter = thread diameter) be mm ength {1= nominal length of the bolt or screw ¢ “uty threaded serews — Distance of the last fll form thre from the bearing ares sryper ‘1u12¢ non s1u ‘219 fgdestoxdey 9g "9 pue g s9pe28 1onposd uy smo.nE Jo s2dh 18 10} Buoy @ ovesiC \y ope 129po1d ama10t jo S204 20} yeuuou # saves ‘sopra: yeaa Jo} peunbeu 3 yno-uns 04s @ esaye suse uA\UO LOys¥ 1No-UNYy ‘9 pue @ "y S9pe.8 t2npoAd ul swaio8 Jo dA 18 J0} JeutoU x Ino-UNAS s310N ve zz 1 coy z vi 09 0 oF oo ca EE a 6 os nm ‘Sven, a a 3 oF roe ¥ E co 6 Pel0e a 9 ve we ae oF a ze 9 wom 3 7 vt, s oe z t ca EG er z x 9 c et se m1 mn $ a ¥ or ze e st 7 z t zr sz, rE) i ze a vz 3 wo € or we sr 30 ez ¥ Te. ¥ £0) ve Zt wt st 90, E z n Tn © v0) * 0 Set szzz oa on so ZH = vo vt o. ‘sor yt 30. er ‘v0 60, ve 1 v0 avo Zin vo vo 90 (an (az) wen | sein | sem Lows ‘9261 : 80S¢ OS! seer : (1b ued) 69st St euou spiupurig weipuy jo nvoing ay wosy pourergo aq Av sisonpoud 4o sazunioujnual oY paruwis aq AeW LE] pr¥pUETS ay Jo. d5n ay) 405 99UOIN B YOM, 42pun suorttpuos Jo spieieq —paendayes Jeyimy v sb pivpuivis ywyp OF ArtwsaJUO> 24 Sle, 4g paxey> sIsnonuniuod ose 218 sionposd payiem plepuvig. “ssonpoad ays hq paressee Ue Sig
