INTRODUCTION

Efficient, responsive and cost effective logistics, integrated across international borders
has come to be recognised as an inescapable pre-requisite for competitive international
trade. In the contemporary globalised economic environment, management of
international logistics which underpins all global supply chains and thereby the movement
of products through the length and breadth of the entire world, has assumed considerable
strategic significance.The management of these highly complex operations requires
strategic planning and implementation.

Growth and success of global companioes indicates that their success in large part can be
linked to their logistics excellence and their relentless pursuit in perfecting their
procurement, production and as well as distribution functions to forge, deploy and
operationalise international logistics network indicates their visualised growth path and
and leadership position.

OBJECTIVES

To disseminate knowledge about the growing importance of international logistics in the


hyper competitive environment of global trade and suggest its implementation towards
strategic cost reduction and improved corporate efficiency.
