CMB8 (*I am hoping to be in the classroom I am a para for)

Dear Parent,

Welcome to the new school year! My name is Ms. Bonham and I am very excited to your child’s
teacher this year! I have been working in LIFE Skills for three years a paraprofessional, where I
have worked with your child for some time now. I recently graduated from the University of
Houston- Downtown and became certified with Teachworthy.

Three procedures your child will do in my classroom are using a visual schedule, place their
belongings on their own in the assigned area, and, if needed, complete compliance tubs, also
known as “work”. The visual schedule shows where your child will go throughout the day, and
might change, depending on what other school-wide activities are going on. Your child will be as
independent as possible, with completing small tasks such as putting their backpack and
communication folders away, getting school supplies from their cubbies, checking their
schedules, and cleaning up their free time activity when the timer goes off. The last procedure is
completing “work”. These are when your child needs a break, gets upsets, and/or needs to get
themselves together. Your child will complete a three-step tub, filling coffee containers with 5-
10 small objects. This will help your child calm themselves and has help many students.

Grades will mostly be with their IEP goals, classwork, and behaviors. If your child is absent, IEP
goals will not be counted for. You can always communicate by text at 000-000-0000 or my email
first.last@schooldistrict.net. Communication folders will be sent home and brought back to
school every day, Forms, paperwork, announcements from class and/ or school.

Once again, I am very excited to be your child’s teacher. If there is anything your child and your
family is concerned with, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are here for your child!

Sincerely,
Madeline Bonham
