Madagascar
Later, when no missionaries were allowed in the country, Griffiths returned as a trader and
found ways to help some of the persecuted Christians. In 1840 he went back to Britain and
became a pastor in Wales for the remainder of his life. He published a history of Madagascar
in Welsh, and a Malagasy grammar in English.
