Do you love reading? What kind of book do you like?

Do you have any

particular genre? Reading as we now that is the basic for learning English. We
learn reading in our school even collage. And because of different interest or
different genre, that makes low reading interest . Reading interest in Indonesia
also low even reading ability. I believe there is so many disadvantages than
advantages in reading interest these days.

The researchers often found that the students who wrote theses and papers
under their guidance showed their low reading ability. Some research findings
indicate that the students’ problems in reading vary from text to text. First, there
is an indication that the basic entry level of the students’ reading ability is low.

This should be understandable as the high school graduates’ reading ability is

known to be as indicated by the average scores they obtain in the national
examination. Another possible reason behind this is the students’ low linguistic
competence which may influence their reading comprehension. Still, the reading
materials and the teachers’ teaching and the students’ reading strategies are not
yet effective enough to help the students to read well.

Different interest of reading for college student that make they hard to
understand the material. Because they only understand what they like to read and
make another reading material useless even that reading material is from best
source. So reading genre for the material really important. That always make
teacher or lecturer hard to teach the student because of different genre of
reading material. when they have to study the non fiction text, they don’t get it
what the text is talking about, even they need more time for understand it. But
for fiction text , they really fast to understand it, that even fast when the text are
their genre.

So, I think we should improve our reading and we should read not only what
we love to read. We have to love book that contain so many information. I know
these days, people too lazy for read book because they have alternative (phone)
but that not help at all so we still need book. don’t hate book we have to care
and love it.
