2.1.1 Tragic hero (main character cursed by fate and possessed by tragic flaw.
2.1.2 Struggle between good and evil (exists within the main character- struggle takes
place as part of the plot)
2.1.3 Hamartia (the fatal character flaw of the tragic hero)
2.1.4 External conflict (problem facing the hero-as a result of plot or bad guy character)
2.1.5 Internal conflict (struggle the hero engages in with his/her fatal flaw)
2.1.6 Supplemental elements (magic, witchcraft, ghost, etc.)
2.1.7 Comic relief (one or more humorous characters who participate in scenes with the
intent to lighten the mood)
2.2 Explain the philosophical concepts embodied in the tragedy.
2.3 Discuss philosophical implications to a person’s life
