Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, received by this Division on 16 January 2020,
2, Theiiformation pertaining to the undersigned CPIO is as follows:
China is under occupation of approximately 28,000 sq. Kms of Indian territory in the States of
Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, In addition, under the so-called China-Parkistan “Boundary Agreement”
signed between China and Paklston on 2 March 1563, Pakistan legally ceded 5,180 sq. kms. of Indian
territary in Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir to Chine.
The fact that the Union Territories of Janam & Kashinir and Ladakh are an integral and
‘inalienable part of tadia has been elearly conveyed to the Chinese side on several occasions, including at the
highest level
India and China have agreed to each appoint a Special Representative (SR) to explore the
framework for a boundary settlement from tie political perspective of the overall bilateral relationship.
There have been nineteen meetings of SRs so far, last one being in Beifing on 20-27 Apri, 2016. The two sides
‘agree that peace and tranguflty tn the berder areas isthe basis for the conzinued expansion of indio-Ching
‘relations. The two sides are eommaftted to seeking a fat, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the
‘boundary question through dialogue and peaceful negotiations
3. However, with respect to Information on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and status of border,
your RTI application is being transferred to PAI Division of MEA and Ministry of Defence and Ministry af
Home Affairs for necessary action at thelr end.
4, If you are aggrieved with this reply, you may file an appeal to Dr. Amit Telang. Director (Bast
