Persuasive Moves: Tom HANDOUT

Directions: Use this organizer to help you analyze how the speaker is using particular
language to try to convince his audience to take action. In the “says” sections, summarize or
choose direct quotes that demonstrate the speaker’s most persuasive words or actions. Use
the “does” section beneath each quote to explain what the speaker’s words are doing in that
quote. Parts of this organizer have been completed for you as a sample.
