Childhood and Early Life
Matt grew up in a household full of music. His brother plays in an Alternative rock
band, his father is part of a local cover band and has written albums, his mother
teaches piano and flute, and his sister plays piano.[3]

Ryan, on the other hand, did not have a musical upbringing. Instead, his musical
journey began in late high school when his friends brought him to Woodford Folk
Festival to see the Folk and Indie pop group "Angus & Julia Stone". He "kinda
digged" the music, and picked up the guitar.[3]

Formation and Early Career

Ryan and Matt first met when a mutual friend of Matt connected the two after a band
break-up. At the time, neither of them were searching for a career in music, but
just wanted to write and play some songs.

They released their first songs on the music streaming service SoundCloud, which
began to gain traction. At the time, Ryan was in the midst of completing an
engineering degree, and Matt was practicing as a carpenter.

They performed at their first ever show after one of their songs had reached
1,000,000 plays on SoundCloud.[3]
