INTRODUCTION:
Small and Medium manufacturing companies require effective software solution to manage their
operations and to improve productivity. This can only be achieved by a good Manufacturing Software
integrated with modules like CRM, Purchase, Inventory, Production, Quality Control, Sales, Accounts and
HR. An ERP is a solution to achieve this objective. However, very high licensing and implementation costs
do not allow small to medium manufacturers to implement such solutions.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:
Many small and medium manufacturing firms are using conventional old management system
and paper works for management information sharing which is a tedious and time consuming
factor if this time is managed effectively one can achieve higher output and gain profitable
outcomes, This project serves a solution for this problem by implementing a free of cost ERP
software for all the manufacturing sectors operating as a small and medium scale.

PROJECT SUMMARY:
This project involves several comparative analysis of some of the available open source ERP
software to choose the best one among them and to implement it on a manufacturing
environment which uses conventional manual management methodology and to upgrade it to a
computer based management information system to manage operation and increase the
productivity.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

1. Choosing a best free licensed open source ERP software.
2. A case study of a manufacturing firm which uses conventional old manufacturing
business operation and implementing the selected ERP to it to automate the entire
management system on a computer platform for better performance and productivity.
3. A new approach of self-implementation for their own company by curtailing the cost for
implementation and to save the company’s valuable R&D and important information
without getting leaked and exposed.
