Rosenfeld, a researcher in geriatric psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital,

examines the security and privacy measure being implemented in apps geared towards

people with dementia. People suffering from dementia have reduced cognitive

capabilities, which put them at greater risk for security breach, especially when operating

a mobile application. Many apps do not have a concise way to protect user information,

and often share the patient information with outside sources. Rosenfeld suggests that by

improving the security of medical based apps, we can better protect the information of

the users, increasing trust and promoting a larger usage of the apps. As our population

ages, the number of people with dementia continues to rise, but so does or reliance on

new and upcoming technology. By making sure that these new applications are safe and

secure places to store medical information, we can better help people with dementia have

a concise location to access their medical needs.
