Business meeting workshop

In a working setting, to be able to speak in a second language, English in

particular, is a must. It allows to manage technical processes and opens up new
business opportunities. This is the reason why, this time, the training and
complementary material focuses on meetings; and it gives, not only some
important meeting expressions, but some meaningful tips on pronunciation.
Now, it's time for you to evidence your learning throughout this workshop

2. Read the following dialogue. Then answer the question: what is the main

A I think everyone is here. So, let’s start the meeting.

B. Of course, boss.

A: You can tell me the goal of this meeting.

B: We are here to discuss some important issues about the budget of next
year.

A: Please, take a look at your agenda. How many items are there on the list?

B: Well, there are 3 items, but I would like us to start with item 2.

A: O.K. Let’s move on item 2. What is it about?

B: It’s about the salary for our employees. It is necessary to increase it

at 5%, because of the economic situation of the country.

A: Hhhmmm. We have to make some math calculations. So, during this

week I will have a proposal for this item.

B: O.K. boss. Do we talk about item number 1?

A: What is it about?

B: It’s about the budget for the raw material, and the item number 3 which is
about the budget for the company’s expenses.
A: I think we should have another meeting for tomorrow. We should first
define the budget for the salaries and then talk about the other items.

B: To sum up, we will meet tomorrow to define the budget.

A: The meeting is finished.
