JULIO MARIO SANTODOMINGO

He was a businessman, philanthropist and patriarch of the Santo Domingo family who
lived in New York City. He controlled more than 100 companies in the diversified portfolio
of the "Santo Domingo Group." He was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the wealthiest
men in the world, and the second wealthiest in Colombia, with a fortune of $8 billion
dollars. He was the founder of a philanthropic foundation, named to honor his father, that
benefits Colombia's social development.

In 2010 the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Foundation, in association with the district
authorities of the city of Bogotá, put the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Public Library Cultural
Center at the service of the community, as an agreement to pay a fine of 55,000 million
pesos that the Santo Domingo family had with the district. Thousands of children with
whose parents were poor were helped. Furthermore, this place has a library, a theater for
concerts, shows and theatrical productions, a studio theater, internet rooms, a toy library,
a sound library and a baby room for early stimulation of children.

This place where technology was available to poor children was located in the Bavaria
Park. It is surrounded by a 5.5-hectare park with wide platforms, wooded green areas,
pedestrian paths and children's games. And to facilitate visitor access, it has 340
underground parking lots and 140 cycle parks.

The Foundation has carried out important projects since 1960, such as the Universidad del
Norte, the José Celestino Mutis Atlantic Experimental Institute, the Santo Domingo School
of Arts and Crafts and the Barbacoas Ecological Educational Institute in Barú.

The Foundation is also giving support to organizations such as the Barranquilla Carnival
Foundation and Parques Como Vamos, which is financing and building projects of social
interest housing, employability, entrepreneurship and basic care for vulnerable
populations.
