The candidate gave a preliminary reading on the biography and the works of Dr. Indira
Goswami. Different blogs in links like www.Indiragoswami.com /
www.thepowerofculture.com and many more were used as references for the better
understanding of Dr. Indira Goswami’s works. She wrote summary for all her novels. This
reading was useful for her in understanding the themes, plot and motive behind Indira
Goswami’s writings. Most of her novels dealt with the issues of women. Widowhood was a
common theme in her work. The candidate read online sources like articles in journals and
blogs to get additional information on Goswami. She inferred ideas regarding postcolonial
concepts such as colonialism, ecocriticism, imperialism, Subaltern, subjectivity from
theoretical books.
