Nursing Interventions to minimize anxiety:


Give not less than six (6)
1. Allow family or significant other to visit the patient while waiting for surgery
2. Allow the client to take lead in asking questions concerning surgery and the post- Inform
and explain to the client the sequence of the events during the perioperative stay
3. operative period
4. Emphasize that a nurse will be with the client throughout the total surgical experience
5. Stand close to the patient when taking him or her into the operating room
6. If touch is culturally appropriate, use touch to reassure the client
7. Allow the patient to wear glasses and hearing aids until the actual surgical procedure

 Provide analgesia and allow less of the other anesthetics to be used while maintaining

 Drugs that block the action of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter, or a


chemical messenger. It transfers signals between certain cells to affect how your body

Histamine 2 Blockers

 Inhibit gastric acid secretion from the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa (lining of the
stomach).

3. Nizatidine

Classification:
Phenothiazines

 A type of antipsychotic. Antipsychotics are medicines that are used to reduce


hallucinations and delusions associated with psychosis. Phenothiazine antipsychotics
are thought to work by blocking the action of dopamine in the brain; however, their exact
mechanism of action is unknown.

1. Prochlorperazine
2. Chlorpromazine
3. Perphenazine
