4 Work in pairs. Discuss and write a job advertisement. This can be for a florist, or
any other job. Decide where your job will be advertised. Your advert should include:
•  a short job description
•  a description of the skills and qualifications needed Glossary
5 When you have written your advertisement, put it on bouquet or arrangement (of
the classroom wall. Read all the advertisements on flowers): a group of flowers
the wall and decide which job you would like to apply arranged in an attractive way
for. Prepare to tell your classmates which job you
have chosen, and say why you think you would be
good at the job.

Scott’s Flowers is a flower shop in New York City. We have a regular list that we deal with, customers
Robert Palliser is a florist. and suppliers, we have, our suppliers out in Europe,

My name’s Rob Palliser. I’m a florist and I work at
Scott’s Flowers in New York City.
My job consists of making bouquets. I create
arrangements. I talk with customers every day.
I also take orders on the phone every day and
I do deliveries. I deal with suppliers and I deal with,
customers both on the phone and in the store, as
well as all of my employees that I work with, my
staff and representatives .
Every day, I handle customers who come into the
store. I also handle customers on the phone, we get
a lot of phone calls every day.

all over Europe, even South America, and we have
the same customers too, as well, every day.
I spend most of my day speaking to people. I
would say very little is on my own.
Being a florist, your communication skills need
to be very high. You’re dealing with customers and
people every day, mostly every minute of the day, so
it’s important.
