Five-Year Career Plan Template

The Five-Year Career Plan is designed to help you develop skills in your
current job or to prepare for your next job. Your five-year plan is very much
an individual and personal plan, and is designed to facilitate your growth,
development and advancement. Always use the SMART model when
setting goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and within a
specific Timeframe.

Plan Period: From - September 2020 To - September 2025

My Current Position: I am currently studying Level 3 Btec Business in

Shipley College. This is my 2nd year in college and on my course and by
the end of the course I am aiming to get D*D*D*. I will also start placement
soon.

My Long-Term Goal: My long term goal is to open my own real estate

business. In order to achieve this I will have to complete my course at
college and then go on to do a business management course in University.

Intermediate Steps Over the Next Five Years to Reach My Goal

Try to set two or three short term goals (i.e. those in the next 2
years) and the remainder for the medium term (following 3
years)
At the moment I am in my 2nd year of college and of my level 3
Year One business course. This year I have 9 units to complete as I did in
year 1. I want to get distinctions in all my units this year so that
overall I get D*D*D* so that I can apply for a good Business
Management course at University. I have to write up my
personal statement and apply for university and also make sure
that I complete all my assignments to the best standard. I will
start placement as well and from that I hope to gain new skills
and experience that I can use in my life.

I will be in the 1st year of my university course. I want to study

Year Two business management to become a real estate agent and
hopefully start my own agency. In my first year I hope to gain
understanding and knowledge of my course and to do the best
that I can on my assignments so that I get the best grades
possible. Alongside being at university I also want to get a job
somewhere so that it is increasing my experience.
I will be in the 2nd year of my university course. In the 2nd year
Year I will know the fundamental things about university and I'll have
Three more understanding about business management. I aim to get
good grades and to carry on into year 3.
In this year I will graduate. In my third and final year I will be
Year Four doing work placement and working with employers to gain in
depth knowledge of business management and gain real life
experience. I will have to solve real life problems in the
business. I will also have to conduct a research project.
After I have graduated I will find a certificate course program to
Year Five get training. I will then try and get myself a job in a real estate
agency and gain experience. I will work with the agency for a
few years until I am stable enough to start my own agency.

Personal Development Objectives to Meet My Goals

There are a few things I need to do in order to meet my goal and get to
where I want to be. My goal is that I start my own real estate agency.
However, in order to meet that goal I will have to gain experience so I will
have to work at a real estate agency as an employee so that I understand
what I will need to do when I start my own business. I also need to improve
a few skills so that I can be the best that I can. These skills include,
customer service skills, administration and my judgement and decision
making skills.
 How can others help me accomplish these objectives?
There are a few people that can help me to achieve the objectives I set. My
tutors at college can help me by helping me when I'm in need or stuck on an
assignment. They can help and guide me to do well on my assignments, so
that when I apply for University I get in with the best grades possible. My
family can also help me by helping me to choose the best university to apply
for.
