Many students who have completed the Welding Engineering MSc at Cranfield University ask how to also obtain an IWE diploma. Students who
have the MSc and four years of experience working as a welding engineer may apply for the IWE through the alternative route. Cranfield
Welding Engineering MSc graduates must meet the following criteria to sit the IWE exams through TWI Certification Ltd:
Do you have at least 4 years Does this meet What will be required for entry to IWE
In addition to Cranfield MSc,
experience at Welding Engineer IWE Access Conditions Exams?
you have:
Level? for Alternative Route? (Four advanced Level Exams)
• If you satisfy the requirements for the Alternative Route to IWE, you will need to attend the Fabrication And Applications 3 module, and
then pass the four advanced level exams (WPE, MAB, DAC and FAA) “Welding Processes and Equipment”, “Materials and their Behaviour
during Welding”, “Construction and Design” and “Fabrication and Applications Engineering”. It is acknowledged that the combination of
your experience and the Cranfield MSc course will exempt you from attending the WPE, MAB and DAC taught modules but you still have
the option of attending the TWI modules if you think this will help you pass the exams. FAA 3 module and IWE examination dates may be
