ACTIVITY IN PRODUCT MANAGEMNT

Direction: Answer all the questions below. Answer must contain not less than 200 words
for each item.

1. How do you correlate the interface of Product Management with other Organizational
Functions? Give at least three manners on how interface took place and give examples.

Answer:
Product Management encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. In simpler
term, it focuses in product, but the role itself means differently in other organization. For
example, in finance department, it reflects product cost. In marketing, it also reflects
other meaning such as advertising and promotion. In engineering, it also includes
development and innovation. Product management doesn`t just revolve about the
product. It unites business, product development, marketing and sales, and affect every
other organizational function that leads to their common goal in the organization.
Product management must communicate with all the other organizational
function to achieve their common goal. For an instance, the Product Management Team
must communicate to the Product development team. In the early stage of the product,
it undergoes research and deep understanding of the needs of the customer. As this
process have been finalize and planned by the Production Team, it will be then
discussed and explained thoroughly to the Product Development Team. Product
management writes the product requirements and works directly with the product
development to set the vision, guidelines, and priorities for the team. Like how does rice
cooker exist. Product management see the struggle of every housewife regarding this
motherly task. In order for every housewife to perform other task without taking too
much time, it is efficient to just prepare your food and wait for it in just a minute. This
problem has been planned by product management team and delivered the idea to the
product development team for production and development.
Marketing team must understand what the Product management develops in
order for them for them to make the right positioning for the product. For example,
carbonated drinks, the marketing must understand what is the purpose and benefit of
the product. You can`t just promote your product about its health benefit if your products
doesn`t have does qualities. That`s why understanding and communication between the
Marketing team and Product Management team is important.
Product management team works and develop every idea before it was launch to
the market. But the success of effective and saleable product lies also to the Sales
Team. Every sales team must clearly understand what they are selling. Product
management team should define the sales process and identify the necessary sales
tools to sell to the customer. On the other hand, make the sales team part of the
strategic planning. Because they spend so much time in the field, they have the insights
of their customers. They clearly understand what the customers need and suggest to
the planning stage.

2. How do product managers carry out their functions in promoting the best quality and
useful products to turn out? Give at least two concepts and justify your answer.

Answer:
Product Manager is responsible for communicating product objectives and plans
for the rest of the company. They must ensure everyone is working toward a shared
organizational goal. They create ideas of the products from scratch or small idea to
launch. Product manager also focuses on features of the products, business value and
the customer. They must communicate with other departments such as marketing or
sales, to transfer to them a complete vision and build a product timeline. They also
evaluate business and competitive conditions, creating distinct product vision that
provides unique value based on consumer requirements.
In order to lead the company and make strategic product choices, product
managers must have a deep product knowledge and expertise. Understanding what
and why the product management team produces the product must be define. At first,
product manager must understand the problem of the customer. It is risky and inefficient
to just propose and produce products that is not entirely the solution needed by your
customer. For example, a cloth type toilet seat cover that was invented. You can
imagine that this product is totally pointless and useless. You can have a beautiful seat
but the purpose it must serves is missing. That`s why every ideas and research must
take into consideration before producing and launching a product. Project manager
must study and conduct a thorough research to pin-point what exactly the customer
need.
But keep in mind that your product is not entirely the solution to everyone`s
problem. It might be good for others and it might be bad for some. You have to keep
improving and innovating. Product manager must learn to keep some ideas and
produce newer and more innovative product for the customer. The world keeps
changing and evolving, so does the preference of every people, and product managers
is set to explore more and study the ever-changing needs and wants of their costumer.
People back in early 1990`s just need a device that will connect and bind them to their
love ones across cities. That’s how phones are very popular back then, kids and adults
use hand carry phones talking and messaging. But years past, innovations occurs and
gave birth to smartphones. With newer and fresher features, it was a great help to
everyone surviving and living the life they have. And we can see until now, the effect of
a good product management with the ever evolving and changing smartphones that`s
keep releasing to the market.
3. Of all the products we have now in the market, which do you think sustains its
remarkable identity even before it is created? Why?

Answer:
If we talk about shoes, we either think of Adidas, Reebok, New Balance,
Converse or Nike. This brands usually comes to mind of every people. It was being
imprinted in the mind of every consumers because of how these brands introduce
themselves in the market. From female designed shoes, to sportswear, to kids’
footwear, this companies try to innovate and offer more to keep their position in the
market.
Nike has always been at the front line of creativity, technological growth, and
cutting-edge marketing campaigns as one of the world's largest shoe brands, helping it
overtake other brands in terms of success and sales. Nike's 'Only Do It' ad campaign
featuring different brand ambassador and advertisers has proved to be beneficial to the
brand as it has helped boost its online sales of footwear items. It make used of their
marketing effort to target the customer and persuade them to patronize their product.
Nike values the customer and the importance of delivering a quality product, like
other leaders in the industry. The consistency and reliability of Nike is a vital part of their
strategy to be able to manage high prices for their products. Their brand is related to
providing athletes with top-notch items that help them perform better. A number of new
innovations associated with their brand have been created and founded too. For
example, Nike invented a shoe that will auto-lace when you put your heel in the shoe.
They have done things to make the shoe lighter and sturdie. Nike is constantly being
innovative with the development of their shoes.
We can consider that due to the dramatic increase in consumer purchasing
habits and a shift in consumer perspective that places style on the same footing as
comfort, the global footwear market has been rising on demands over the past few
decades. Global shoe companies are witnessing phenomenal sales growth despite of
revolution in a fast-changing retail environment. It is doubtful that the global footwear
industry will slow down any time soon, with global footwear demand rising at an
incredible pace.
