Guidelines for those interested in manuscript submission:

1: What is your CONCEPT?

2: Is your concept/ idea something NEW?

3: Is your concept/ idea something OLD and considered CLICHE‘?

4: If the concept is already cliche‘, how do you make it NEW?

A story concept is of no use without characters. But how does one create a character?

5: What makes a CHARACTER "strong" or "weak"?

6: Why are there UNFORGETTABLE CHARACTERS?

7: Why are there characters that one doesn't remember at all?

8: How can you create/develop effective and memorable characters?

Remember those lines?

9: People tend to quote famous movie lines, but what makes these lines click?

10: How wil you make your character's lines a "catch phrase"?

11: Do they have such strong recall?

12: What makes them so memorable?

Examples: "He's dead."

A. "Patay na siya."
B." Nadedbol siya."

C. "Tsinugi siya."

D " Natepok na."

E Nonverbally: sign of hand cutting across one's neck.

While all the lines may mean the same thing, each line is said by a different character, and the
character's character is revealed through his lines.

13: Are the lines "SUITABLE" for the characters?

14: Are the dialogues simple and clear? Are they significant and are not present just for the sake of
putting dialogue?

Brain storming:
A STORYLINE is a summary of the narrative in the writer's mind. It does not really answer but it satisfies
the question "WHAT IS THE STORY ALL ABOUT?" It should give a GENERAL IDEA on the theme, plot, and
characters in the story. It can be told in the first person point of view but NOT by the writer but by a
CHARACTER. It should be written in the present tense as the story unfolds while the synopsis is being
read. It must be CLEAR, SIMPLE, DIRECT TO THE POINT and CATCHY.

15: Whose story is this?

16: What is the story about?

17: Is the number of characters appropriate for the story? Are their roles significant enough to be part of
the story? Or are they just there to fill in the space? Are there too many characters involved that you
can't tell whose story it is anymore?

18: What's the problem of the character? Is it clearly defined? How does the character react to the
problem?

19: Can you empathize with the character? Is s/he believable/ credible?

20: What happens to the problem in the end? What change does this bring about to him/ her? Does it?
