CHAPTER IV: DEVELOPING YOUR GAME PLAN,GETTING FROM HERE TO THERE

In this chapter, they discuss about different strategies or methods that you will use to
achieve the objectives of the project. They also give different situations regarding
unknown circumtances that may occur and how to deal with it. As a listener, I agree that
the project works and deliverables will only fall to the project scope that you have.
Allows no gap, 100 percent rule in decomposing a project and the other guideline is to
not include same subproduct in your decomposition of two or more deliverables. They
also specify that we need to look to a bigger picture in planning the project. We need
also to breakdown our project into major components to have a detailed distribution of
parts. For me its important to breakdown a project into major components for us to know
what comes first and what are the things that you have to prioritize. They also
determine the major deliverables or final products that must be produced to achieve the
projects objectives.

In order for us to have a successful project planning you need to identify all important
information in your project plan and address all aspects of your plan during project
performance. Having a detailed work helps you to accomplish these tasks This chapter
helps you break down your project work into manageable pieces. The main purpose of
WBS in this chapter is to reduce complicated activities to a collection of tasks so that
the project manager can oversee the tasks more effectively and this wbs gather the
critical elements of the project along with its timeline, cost, and resources.
Is the WBS applicable to Construction Project?

For me yes it is applicable to construction project because your work breakdown


structure (wbs) should establish a solid foundation for your construction project
schedule.

The WBS shows what you are doing and the Gantt chart shows when you are doing it.
You would use the WBS for scope control, including change management, and you
would use the Gantt chart for schedule control.

The WBS cannot be used as a replacement for the project plan or schedule. A WBS is
not required to be created in any type of order or sequence. It is simply a visual
breakdown of deliverables.

So basically a work breakdown structure is a key project deliverable that organizes the
team’s work into manageable sections while Gantt Chart is a tool to create a project
schedule.
