CHAPTER 6: ESTABLISHING WHOM YOU NEED, HOW MUCH, AND WHEN?

One of the objectives of this chapter is to be able to idenfity and focus on people’s
abilities, but try to think over that it’s not always abilities and skills, but also the desire
and commitment to do your task and also the behavior of the people. They discuss
different planning on how to increase chances in succeeding the project by figuring out
whom you need on your project, when, and for how long. It also discusses how you can
identify and manage conflicting demands for people’s time. Your next step after
breaking down the major components into smaller activities is to gather information that
you need to match up the tasks. It is important to determine the skills and knowledge
that each activity requires and also confirming that the people assigned to those
activities possess the required skills and knowledge and that they’re genuinely
interested in working on their assignments. By obtaining this kind of peope it assures
the successful of the task given and will support the project to accomplish its goals.
They also give situations regarding how workers spend their time and how it affects the
project. In my ojt days, I realized that the work load we have are not properly distributed
to the workers.Some have an easy task and others are not. Having this kind of system
is burdensome because its not only the project that will be affected but also the workers.
The other objectives of this chapter are to be able to strike a balance among all your
resources commitment and to accurately plan your projects personal need.

This group address the importance of having qualified personnel resources assigned to
your project team and explains how a Human Resources Matrix can be used to record
the required characteristics and amounts of needed personnel.
