So,lets discuss each and every point one by one

1. Officiating Pay/Basic Pay : This is the basic pay of an employee which is 44900 for an
inspector which increases every year in the month of July acc. to 7 th pay commission chart.
This amount will be 44900 at the time of joining, 2 nd year 46200, 3rd year 47600, 4th year
49000 and so on.
2. DA(Dearness Allowance) : This allowance is paid to mitigate the impact of inflation on

DA is decided by the parliament and usually paid in the form of arrears. The current % of DA
is 17% . Usually it increases by 4-5% in every six month .DA is paid on basic salary. For g here
basic salary of employee is 46200 so DA will be 7854 which is 17% of basic salary. Due to
COVID 19 Central govt. has freezed the DA increment upto july 2021.
3. HRA(House Rent Allowance) : HRA is a part of the salary provided by an employer to his
employee for his rented accommodation. If an officer will opt for govt. quarters he can freely
live in quarters in any city but he will not get this allowance. HRA is given as a % of basic
salary and varies according to cities it is 8%,16% & 24% for Z,Y & X categories of cities
respectively. Usually Big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai are included in X categories and
small cities and towns are included in Z categories. Here as the officer is residing in Z
category city so his HRA is 3696, which id 8% of basic salary. If he would have been residing
in X category city then his HRA will be 11088, which is 24% of basic salary.
4. TPT (Transport Allowance) : Transport allowance is an allowance given to meet
commuting expenses between place of residence and office. This is 4212 as of now for big
cities and 2106 for smaller cities. TPT also changes after every 6 month along with DA as as
TA hike and DA hike are inter-connected.
5. CGEGIS : This is a very small deduction for insurance of employee
6. Emp Tier 1/ NPS contribution : The National Pension Scheme is a social security initiative by
the Central Government. After retirement, the subscribers can take out a certain percentage
of the corpus. As an NPS account holder, you will receive the remaining amount as a
monthly pension post your retirement . NPS is deducted at the rate of 10% ( of Basic+DA)
from an officers salary. In this case the total value of Basic + DA is 54054 so 10% of this is
NPS contribution which amounts to 5405. Also 14% of this Basic+DA is contributed by govt.
to NPS account which is not shown in this salary slip. This amounts to Rs 7568 for this officer.
So overall an amount of approx 13000 is deposited every month in your NPS account as
savings which you can withdraw in between of your service with some restrictions.
7. Income Tax deductions: At regular intervals Income tax amount in the form of TDS is also
deducted from this salary.
