FOR PRECISE DEPTH SETTING AND AUTOMATIC DRAUGHT CONTROL Simplicity of operation, combined with reliability, is the keynote of the new hydraulic’ system on the ED-40, a system which enables the opera tor to achieve more output per man- hour. DEPTHOMATIC control incorpo- rates a live system with automatic variable response and automatic draught-control_ sensing through the top link which provides selective position control. In operation, the implement is lowered to the required selected depth; thereafter, DEPTH- OMATIC control permits the imple- ment to react automatically to changes in field conditions and transfers implement weight to the tractor rear wheels for optimum traction—PLUS MORE CONSIS- TENT DEPTH CONTROL. One lever only (depth ever|—pro- vides automatic draught control. No other setting is required, When this lever is moved down the quad- rant, the position selected establishes the pressure required to compress the control spring and thus controls implement working depth. The lower the setting, the greater the pressure required and the deeper the implement penetrates, In normal ploughing operations, the implement reacts to soil resis- tances causing the system to act automatically in slow response. Slight increase in resistance causes the system to lift the implement gradually and slowly under full control. When such resistance is neutralised the DEPTHOMATIC system returns the implement, under control, to the pre-selected working depth, The response is fully controlled either when lifting or lowering, resulting in smooth operation. This gives 2-clutch power control: for safer tractor operation, depress foot-clutch pedal and stop, all motion: for greater convenience, pull the hand-clutch and stop tractor to allow P.T.0. shaft to continue in operation. Difeentiat Lock contol nel ‘Supplied on the De-Luxe and Super De-Luxe Tractor, differential lock keeps the rear wheels turning and eliminates power-consuming, time wasting wheel-slip. In conditions where traction may be difficult a slight heel-pressure on the con- veniently positioned pedel on the right-hand foot plate puts the lock into action, locks both rear wheels together to give equal driving power and restore traction. FRONT AND REAR-WHEEL ADJUSTMENT A comprehensive range of front and rear-wheel spacing adjustments are available to suit popular row- crop widths. Front wheels adjust from 48° to 72" in 4” steps, Rear wheels from 42° to 72° on 10 x 28 tyres and 52" to 72° on 11 x 26 tyres.
