Morning my name is Sergio Padilla, I’m a seminarian from Redemptoris Mater Seminary, I’m

seventeen and I’m from Bogotá Colombia. Today, I want to tell you about my dream career.

Since I was a child, I’ve always been very good at math. I remember when I was at school, it was
always my favorite class and I could solve math problems very quickly. During high school I asked
myself about what I’d like to study, and I was discovering I really liked science, but specifically
Physics. In the last few years I began to see that Math would be a bit boring and tiring, and I began
to get interested in studying and understanding Nature and how it works. I saw that I could
combine my mathematical skills and my love for the secrets of Nature, and for this reason, I would
like to study Physics, my dream career.

Studying Physics entails a difficult challenge, because nowadays there are a lot of great scientists
and good jobs are very few, specially in Colombia. Usually, physicists end up working as teachers,
and although this is not bad, I would like to dedicate myself more to study in general.

Going further, I would like to study at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), because
besides being the best university in Physics, it’s located in a country that I would like to know very
much, the United States. In addition, I could work right there in a research group or in the
background as a professor.

Advantages and disadvantages. Let’s start with the disadvantages:

Some disadvantages are:

- It can sometimes be a little boring or exhausting.

- this requires a lot of discipline and maybe spending a lot of time in a lab or research
facility.
- Mm Idk, I think this requires real pleasure, because otherwise it could become tedious.

The advantages of having this job or studying this career are many.

- You can learn a lot about Nature.

- You can have the opportunity to travel, meet many scientists, many ways of thinking,
many ways of seeing and understanding all the natural events that happen around us.
- You can get very good jobs in different universities or research places and the most
important is that you can participate in the advancement or discovery of the secrets of
Nature and the secrets of Technology.
