b. The teacher conducts feedback and explains that river floods
can occur when river levels rise to overflow the channel.
Studying the river's drainage basin can help to explain why
floods occur. The teacher shows the diagram of a drainage
basin (worksheet) and see whether students can recall the key
features - watershed, source, tributary, mouth and confluence
– from their prior learning. The students perform task A.1 and
2 from worksheet 2.
