2.4 The commissioning procedure for the secondary substation is contained in the
relevant substation commissioning document, see references section.
Term Definition
4 Description
4.1 An overview of the main components of the Remsdaq CallistoNX is shown Figure 1.
4.3 For use with multi panel switchgear, the Type E RTU has control facilities for up to
four switches or circuit-breakers and monitoring (open/close) of up to eight switches
or circuit-breakers (including the four controlled). To monitor six or more switches or
circuit-breakers, an additional DI module must be installed in the RTU.
4.4 Local control and monitoring is provided using the touch screen HMI.
4.5 The CallistoNX is mains powered with a battery back-up and is self-monitoring.
4.6 The CallistoNX uses the DNP3 IP protocol to provide communication with PowerOn
network management system for remote control and monitoring. Any appropriate IP
compliant comms system can be used, such as:
4.7 The IP comms networks will also provide remote configuration and monitoring
capability from UKPN offices.
4.8 The CallistoNX is capable of providing two internal fault passage indicators (FPI) on
the FPM module, driven via the 3 phase RMU FPI CT inputs (where available). These
are directly wired to RTU switch 1 and RTU switch 2.
4.9 Where RMU CT inputs cannot be provided to the RTU (old LPN spec RMUs for
instance), or where additional FPIs are required, these can be facilitated using
external FPI units connected to the RTU via the RMU marshalling box.
4.10 Connections to plant and equipment are made using the sockets provided on the
bottom of the RTU, see Figure 3.
5.2 Mount the Comms Device on the DIN rail as shown in Figure 5.
5.4 If using GPRS/3G/4G Comms: Connect the ethernet patch lead to Port A of the
System Bus module and to the comms device Ethernet port.
5.5 If a risk assessment of the location allows, the aerial should be mounted outdoors,
however if not the aerial should be mounted as high as possible within the substation.
5.6 If the substation is underground, every effort should be made to place the aerial at
street level, or as close as reasonably practicable.
5.7 If using GPRS/3G/4G Comms: The Aerial feeder should be passed through one of
the stuffing glands already installed on the RTU. The aerial feeder cable may need
to be packed out (with insulating tape or something suitable) to ensure the stuffing
gland can be tightened to form a good seal around the feeder cable.
6 CallistoNX Configuration
6.1 Please note, the process and screenshots may vary slightly from the actual screens
shown during configuration, but the principles and process is the same. This is
because new functions and features may be added to the RTU between document
updates.
6.2 The Callisto NX RTU is pre-configured for the ‘hardwired’ I/O points and only requires
configuration for the additional options that may be installed on a site by site basis,
and the site specific RTU address.
6.3 The Callisto NX Configuration Tool software is used to configure the RTU, set up
the DNP3 address and IP addresses, etc, and to check the status of the RTU.
6.4 Ensure the Laptop is to set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP Client).
6.5 Connect a laptop PC to RJ 45 Config Port on the touch screen swing frame using a
suitable Ethernet Patch cable. If the Laptop supports auto-crossover a standard
Ethernet Patch Cable may be used to connect a laptop PC to the CallistoNX for
configuration, if not a crossover Ethernet cable is required. DO NOT connect to the
RJ 45 port on the touch screen itself.
6.7 The box at the top of the Config Tool page displays the Commissioning Tool, Base
Config and Firmware version numbers, make sure the Config and Firmware are the
latest versions as available on Alfresco. If any of these are older versions, please
refer to Appendix A to upgrade them. Please note, the same Firmware/Software
versions are used for both RMUs and multi panel switchgear, however, different
configs are used.
6.8 The Config Tool will search for any connected RTU and display the details on the
screen. If more than one RTU is displayed, ensure you select the correct one (The
RTU name should match the Power-On name).
6.9 Select the desired RTU, type the following username and password into the relevant
boxes. Username ukpn, password <deliberately not shown in this document>
and select Connect.
6.10 The Config Tool will then connect to the selected RTU, this may take a couple of
minutes.
6.12 Step 1: Input the required RTU Name into the appropriate box. (site name specified
by Power-On commissioning engineer).
6.12.3 Check the RTU IP Address, RTU Subnet Mask, Gateway IP Address and Router
Sharing – RTU Number are all set to:
Router Sharing – RTU Number: 1 (assuming only one RTU is connected to the
Router). If more than one RTU is connected to the Router this will need to be
incremented.
Up to 4 RTUs can be connected to a single Router. Please note, each RTU must
have a DIFFERENT sharing number. If in doubt, check the other RTUs connected to
the router (Lucy Gemini 3 RTUs will have the IP address as detailed below):
6.12.4 RTU Switch 1 is always enabled by default. If RTU Switch 2, 3 or 4 are to be utilised
they must be enabled by selecting the relevant tick boxes as required.
6.12.5 If PLTU functionality is required, tick the box to enable the PLTU functionality. If the
PLTU functionality is enabled, ensure the correct RTU switch is selected, so the
correct circuit breaker is tripped.
6.12.6 Ensure the boxes for the Optional 6I and Optional DI modules are not ticked.
6.15 Select any equipment connected via the RS485/Modbus comms bus (such as a
Power Meters or Protection relays). If none is connected, select None.
6.16 Please note, the Modbus address of the devices installed on the comms bus must
match the Modbus address detailed in the configuration tool.
6.19 Step 3: Set up RTU Switch 1 (Do not change RTU Switch Name).
6.19.1 Select what RMU type the switch or circuit breaker is connected to.
Please note, the standard FPI settings for use with the Type E RTU internal FPIs for EPN,
LPN and SPN are: Phase Fault 600A 50ms and Earth Fault 90A 50ms. These values can
be overwritten if site specific values have been calculated.
Internal FPI/EFPI functionality is only available on RTU switch 1 and RTU switch 2.
Select Next.
6.22 Click Upload Configuration to write the configuration to the RTU. The RTU will
restart, green ticks will be shown against the items in the Progress list.
6.23 When the RTU has been configured and rebooted, the following date/time will be
shown on the RTU LCD panel (not the touch screen): Sat Jan 1 2000 00:00:00 until
the RTU has connected into Power-On and the clock automatically set to the correct
time. The RTU has approximately 3 minute delay before connecting to Power-On to
enable it to collect all of the relevant data first.
