NOTES!!(baka makatulong sa reporter)

1. His attention in forming this theory was captured by a colleague’s intriguing expereience
with a patient; the colleague was Dr. Josef Breur and the patient is the famous Anna O WHO
SUFFERED FROM PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS WITH NO APPARENT PHYSICALS CAUSE.
2. He dubbed the disorders ‘hysteria’ and began treating them by listening to his patients talk
through their problems. Based on his work Freud asserted that peoples behavior is affected
by their unconcious.
3. Since the origins of Psychoanalysis, the field has displayed a powerful set of connections to
literature.
4. Freud was also intereested in writers, specially thos who relied heavily on symbols. Freud
interest in artist led hime to make some unfortunate generalizations about creativity Like for
example In 1922 twenty third lecture in Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis he defined
artist as “one urged on by instinctive needs that are too clamoroues, it also led him to write
creative literray criticism of his own.
5. Freuds application of psychoanalytic theory to literature quickly caught on and many of the
critics decided that psychoanalytic theory could assist in understanding literature.
