1.1 Links & Processors Utilization Report:
This report deals with following:

1.1.1 CPU usage

Every BSC/RNC board operates with a CPU ranging from minimum 1 to multiple CPUs
depending upon its handling capability and tasks.

Counter index is as under:

Index or Counter Index or Counter Description

Mean ratio of the CPU usage(%) C380360004
C380360004 Mean ratio of CPU usage(%)
Mean ratio of the system memory usage(%) C380360002
C380360002 Mean ratio of Memory usage(%)
CPU peak load(%) C380360003
C380360003 Max ratio of CPU usage(%)
C380360005 Duration of CPU Peak(s)
C380360008 Duration of CPU Overload(s)
C380360012 Current ratio of CPU usage(%)

RNC wise data is as follows:

3
FSD & MLT RNC 410,406 has high memory usage, given count of nodes and traffic, CPU load is
normal. We can see USP2a-CDRboards are constantly at 90%(memory usage)
during BH. Possible reason is increasing traffic & users count.
Board expansion/possible load balancing/new shelf or RNC could be considered with
rehoming plans to follow.

Due to the relatively higher count of BSCs in the region, its CPU/Memory utilization is
following a normal trend: Several spikes of CPU Peak load have been observed in BSC
MUL320Z (1135).

4
1.1.2 DSP usage
DSP is the main processing unit on any processing board whether on Control plane or user
plane. Services from both CS and PS domain are handled by it.

Counter index is as under:

Index or Counter Index or Counter Description

C902470041 Mean value of DSP usage(%)

All BSCs are following normal trend.

1.1.3 BSC Load Control

The BSC load control is designed to use the overload detection and control
mechanism to limit partial services to avoid the unavailability of system resources
or the abnormal operation of system when the system is congested or overloaded.
In this way, the normal operation of the system is ensured
Counter index is as under:

Just an overview is as under:

9
C902110005 Times of paging messages larger than the threshold
After BSC receives the paging message issued by MSC, it performs statistics of the number of paging
messages that do not contain eMLPP priority information received within the unit time. If
the number exceeds the set threshold value; flow control must be performed to discard
subsequent paging messages not containing eMLPP priority information received in the
measurement period. After a unit
time expires, check whether the number of common paging messages received in the
measurement period exceeds the threshold value. If the number is larger than the
threshold value, the counter increments.

1.1.4 DMP board admission control on RNC

Following counter has been considered under this heading to be analyzed:
Index or Counter Index or Counter Description
Number of time s that an RRC connection request is
C310086968 discarded or rejected due to DMP board admission
control

There is nor RRC discards due to DMP board transmission and KPI’s are stable of all RNC’s.

1.1.6 Links

In 2G we are using on average 3+3 FE links between BSC-->MSC/SGSN. With SS7

signaling being used as SCTP links. All of which remain below
threshold. For 3G we are considering following:

10
For FSD RNCs trend is as below:

For MUL RNCs trend is as below:

Graphs above show normal trend on each interface. If any interface especially IuPS touch 70%
mark we need to keep under tab for possible expansion with SGSN on IuPS interface.

11
1.1.7 EMS Capacity
Application service performance for 10.231.250.146 is as under:

Application service performance for 10.200.88.133 is as under:

12
Application service performance for 10.200.42.162 is as under:

//These are instantaneous values, currently working normal.

1.1.8 Conclusion:
Points highlighted in the report suggest following:

• IUPS utilization is normal for all RNCs of Central B.

• FSD & MLT RNCs 410,406 has high memory usage, given count of nodes and traffic. CPU
load is normal; However RNC’s can be checked for board expansion.
• Several spikes of CPU Peak load has been observed in BSC MUL320Z (1135).
• Multiple BSCs of FSD, MUL are having high number of filtered paging.
