READING COMPREHENSION
1. Reading texts in English will help you improve your vocabulary

2. Choose a text according to your level with which you feel most

comfortable

The worst thing you can do is get used to reading texts that are below your

means. Choose texts that demand you and that make you maintain a

proactive learning attitude, of a similar level to yours and, even, a higher

point. Your reading comprehension will be rewarded with that book that

gives you the right difficulty and encourages you to incorporate new

grammatical structures and new vocabulary to your repertoire. The point is

to progressively improve.

3. you have to read, but also listen

One of the advantages that technology has brought with it is that you can

now listen to texts, especially books, at the same time that you are reading

them.

4. Reread aloud

Once you've finished the chapter of the book or text you're reading, read it

aloud again. In this way, while you activate your reading level, you also help

improve your pronunciation.

5. Start with simple texts

It is important to go from less to more. Start with writings that you can follow

without difficulty and that are interesting to you.

Do you like football or movies? Look for content of this type in English, and keep

the most relevant ideas.

6. Check the dictionary at the end

This point is 100% related to the previous one. It is essential that you stop resorting

to the dictionary with each term you do not know, if you do, you will get tired and

overwhelmed, making reading a real tedium. By doing this you lose fluidity and

rhythm, and it is not recommended at all.

7. Make summaries and diagrams

A key to improving reading comprehension is the preparation of syntheses or

summaries. Reading has two phases: reading and interaction with the text.

8. Use query tools

To improve your reading comprehension, the English or English-Spanish

dictionaries should be your travel companions.

They are essential resources to know the meaning of some words and understand

certain structures.

9. Practice and share everything you have learned

Everything that you assimilate, share it with friends, teachers or native

colleagues, or who are specialists in the field. If you could also create a trusted

reading group, that would be perfect. In it, you could work texts in English.

10. Face the new terms

If you come across a word you don't know, underline it to find its meaning, but don't

stop at each one because then you will spend hours reading three pages.
