negotiate observation strategies could work to encourage a respectful, productive
focus: working environment.

Conscious acts of Students come in and settle at the tables.

teaching recorded
You ask them to get ready
Write the learning outcomes into your books
You circulate
So we are going to explain the principle of refraction, explain the
principle of dispersion.
Does anyone have a guess what refraction is.
What happens if you break something
You write instructions on the board
1. Grab a beaker
2. Fill it with water
3. Place an object in it
4. What happens to the object?

So the instructions are on the board….

You go round and talk individually to the groups

So what are the common observations?
Groups share their observations (be quiet..)
You show a video
As they watch the video
you explain words like opaque, translucent etc.
Ok copy that down…
What is a medium? (students)

...so put your object in on a slant, does it bend? A few unknown

Words.
Students find out meaning and share it with you. They feel
confident doing so.
Ok, paying attention.
Write a paragraph explaining the law of refraction.
Make a prediction to why you think the lights bends.

Ok I show you the second video

Quiet please… (could they take notes?)
Does this make more sense now?
Ok have a go at writing the paragraph now
I would like to see your paragraph before the bell goes. You walk
around talking to the groups, checking for understanding.

4 minutes till the bell rings, students are packing up, putting chairs
up
Rima is getting her phone from you
A few students come and talk to you at the front.
Students are leaving before the bell rings, wait girls….

Questions for How do you think the lesson went?

reflection (Coach) The lesson went better than usually, it might be because there
were 3 teachers present, so they were more settled.

What are your starting and finishing routines?

Start by allowing students to settle in for 10 minutes. After 10 mins
