Copyright © 1989 General Motors Corp. iti LIST OF WARNINGS This manual contains the following Warnings — IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE FAMILIAR WITH ALL OF THEM. ‘+ When conducting a stall test, the vehicle must be positively prevented from moving. Both the parking and service brakes must be applied, and the vehicle should be blocked to prevent movement forward or reverse. Keep people safely ‘away from the vehicle path. + Never dry bearings by spinning them with compressed air. A spinning bearing can disintegrate. Also, spinning a bearing without lubrication can damage the *+ Do not burn discarded teflon seals; toxic gases are produced by burning. * Do not lift the rear planetary assembly by the ball bearing on the rear end. The bearing may come off and the heavy planetary may fall causing personal injury and/or damage to the parts. + Besure the forward clutch hub and the fifth clutch driving hub are installed into the forward clutch housing and not into the fifth clutch housing. If these two ‘hubs are installed into the fifth clutch housing by mistake, the transmission will operate in reverse when the driver selects any forward range. + When the input drive housing is removed, the converter turbine may remain with the transmission or inside the drive housing, Personal injury may occur or the turbine may be damaged if itis allowed to fall from the housing when the ‘housing is lifted from the transmission. If the tarbine remains with the housing, support it until the housing and turbine are safely resting on the work surface. ‘+ Main pressure regulator valve spring compression force is approximately 67 Ibs (298 N).
