IV. HOW THE MANUAL IS ORGANIZED

This Manual is divided into 7 different sections based on the 7 Modules included in
the ESurveying Product
Suite. Listed below is a brief description of each module and its specific
features:

ESurvey Sections

A section drawing provides a cutaway view of a building, removing the surface layer
of the building to show
elements present beneath it as the section cuts through it. ESurvey Sections is a
complete section creation and
management solution designed to help you to create industry standard drawings. It
has been developed to
include various fields such as Roads, Railway lines, Irrigation canals, Pipeline
designs, and Sewer network
projects. This feature rich application includes the following features:

Generating Cross-sections and Longitudinal-sections from Total Station (CSV,

Excel)
 Generating sections from CAD alignment

ESurvey Interpolate

Interpolation can be defined as the process of predicting the value of attributes

at unsampled sites from
measurements made at point locations within the same area or region. ESurvey
Interpolate is effective
software to interpolate points at any intervals using the actual surveyed data for
generating sections. Its key
features include:

Interpolation along an alignment using any of the three methods Straight line,
Tin or 3D Interpolation
Convert 2D Polylines to 3D Polyline using Surface Data or create3D polylines by
selecting elevation
texts
Export interpolated cross-section and longitudinal-section values to Excel or
Section generation
Software

ESurvey Contours

A contour may be defined as a line of intersection of a level surface with the

surface of the ground. A contour
map gives the idea of the altitudes of the surface features as well as their
relative positions in a plan. ESurvey
Contours allows you to generate contours quickly and easily from point data
available in CAD Drawings or level
available in Excel or CSV files. This module includes the following set of
features:

to save your editing time.
Make your drawings even more presentable with proper text alignments
Get more control of drawing entities and get things done faster
Import text file data to drawing and drawing data back to text file
Save lot of time while working with CAD Drawings
ESurvey Lisps adds impact, energy and efficiency to every project you do.

ESurvey KML

Google Earth is a geo-browser which represents the Earth as a three-dimensional

globe. It is great tool to
Explore Earth Imagery. On the other side CAD Package which works with UTM is more
convenient to represent
2-D Drawings. Converting data available in Google earth in the form of KML File to
2 Dimensional drawing data
and Vice Versa is possible with ESurvey KML.

ESURVEY LISPS

Before getting through quick reference guide and descriptive procedure you have to
understand some of the
concepts and terminologies that are used in ESurvey Lisps.

Primary objectives of ESurvey Lisps are

a. Command Prompt: If you are keen on completing your assignment faster in CAD, we
recommend you
to get familiar with command prompt operations in CAD as it can save considerable
drawing editing
time. If you become familiar with macros provided with in ESurvey Lisps, you can
increase your
efficiency while working with bigger drawing at least by 10%.

b. Survey Drawing Centric: Specific utilities like Traverse Correction, Lat Long
Conversion, Measurement
Unit conversion, bearing representation, Elevation Text, 3D Polyline handling,
Printing bulk drawings,
Gradient, Interpolation, Setting out Etc have been the key focus while designing
ESurvey Lisps.

c. Utilize strength of basic entities to best possible Extent. For example, MText
is a complex entity, it has
its own advantage but it may be noted that it is not advice to use MText entities
in your drawing as it
has its own set of limitations. It is true with many other complex concepts like
Mask Text, Double Line
Etc. ESurvey Lisps works with basic entities like Line, Polyline, 3DPolyline,
Text which are extensively
used in Survey Drawings to reduce dependency on complex entities.

d. CAD Concepts: CAD Packages have plenty of concepts like Layers, Selection Set,
and Dimensions etc.
Understanding the utility of these concepts is very much required to improve CAD
Experience. More
you know about these concepts, it becomes that easy to produce quality output.
ESurvey Lisps focus
on Layer, Selection and Block concept which are essential for Survey Drawings.
Chapter 1: Terminologies and Descriptions

1. Text: Although it looks very simple, Text is a highly complex entity in CAD. One
can have variety of
properties to text, i.e. Height, Font, Width, Underscore, Italic, Right to left,
style and many more
properties. Please note that ESurvey Lisp Creates Texts with various commands, most
of the time with
Middle Centre justification. Refer to following figure related to various
Justification for text in CAD.

2. Text Height: In majority of the cases, the height of the generated by ESurvey
Lisps will be around 1.75
units. To change the text height you may use change property command of CAD after
generating the
text. If you wish to create texts with specific height, please set required text
height in current text style
as all the texts that gets generated with ESurvey Lisp will be created in Current
text style and if there is
a height defined in Current Text style then that height will be given preference
over text height
specified in program.

3. Elevation Text: Text entities having elevation as its content are referred as
elevation texts. For
example a text having value 98.30 is an Elevation text.

4. Elevated Text: A text having its elevation as Z Value is called elevated text.

5. Units: ESurvey Lisp also generates lot of elevation text. All the elevation text
(Ex: 99.345) which gets
created using ESurvey Lisp will have the precision as set in Units command. If you
wish to generate
elevations with 2 Precision then set Decimal Units to 2 before running the lisp.

6. UB command: Many commands in ESurvey Lisps create lot of entities and also
modifies entities. If you
use undo (U) command it may take lot of time to reach to position where you
started. But if you use
short cut UB provided within ESurvey Lisps, CAD will immediately take you back to
the drawing stage
when the lisp was used.

7. Gradient: The grade (also called slope, incline, gradient, pitch or rise) refers
to the amount of
inclination of that surface to the horizontal. A larger number indicates higher or
steeper degree of
"tilt". Often slope is calculated as a ratio of "rise" to "run", or as a fraction
("rise over run") in which run
is the horizontal distance and rise is the vertical distance.

8. 3DPolyLine: 3DPolyline in CAD is Polyline having z value at each vertex. Many

surveying software work
with 3D Polylines which represent roads, canals, pipelines etc. 3DPolyLines can be
created using
3DPoly command. With available data creating 3DPolyine in CAD takes a lot of
time. To help create
3DPolyline from available text entities a set of Lisp has been developed i.e.,
3DET, 3JET, 3DT and
3JP.
9. Interpolation: Survey drawing preparation involves interpolation of values as,
many a times survey
cannot be done at points where the elevations are required. It is common practice
to do best possible
survey and then interpolate the required values. There are variety of interpolation
practices and
methods. In ESurvey Lisps solution to straight line interpolation alone is
provided.

10. Setting Out: Survey work involves two kind of work, first survey is done to
prepare the Topo map, In
the next stage survey is done to set out the points on the field. Setting out
portion of E Survey Lisps
addresses points related to setting out points in field. In setting out section
focus is on exporting
Easting, Northing and Elevation values from CAD to CSV or Excel File.
