3.15 Aperture-Priority—Depth of Field Although changing the aperture doesn’t change the exposure in this mode, you can use exposure compensation and other techniques to lighten or darken the image. < At close distances, depth of field is very shallow, even when you use a small aperture (left). The same aperture at a greater distance will give you great depth of field (below). A Smaller apertures give greater depth of field (top) than do larger apertures (bottom).
