Reflection:

Research was discipline-bound. However, as the focus began shifting from basic research
to resolving bigger challenges such as climate change, food and water crisis, public health, etc.,
research had to transcend the boundaries of disciplines, thus making headway for
interdisciplinary research. Interdisciplinary study allows for synthesis of ideas and the synthesis
of characteristics from many disciplines. At the same time it addresses students individual
differences and helps to develop important, transferable skills. It is an innovation that permits
leaders to address complex problems more rationally, practically, and morally than use of
traditional disciplinary methods.

I do attend conferences. It helped me to expand network, and some fruitful discussions.

Additionally, for young researchers, it is an opportunity to find the research group/professor with
whom he/she can continue his work (as a post doc, research associate etc.) For me, that's great to
have advancement in research topics because it deals to proper and uniform way to reach the
goal. The ideas discussed by the speaker motivates us to be careful in finding the benefit of the
doubt. The speaker also shared us additional information, data, techniques, tools and perspectives
for future enhancement. Most of the time the researchers submitting the papers in conference has
a degree. Since most of them are beginners, it is really difficult to get quality papers. Getting the
paper reviewed by senior people is a big challenge.

With research now becoming increasingly global and collaborative, interdisciplinary

research is deemed to be the future of science and research. Without that developing sense of
respect for diverse types of quantitative and qualitative research, maybe works won't give
integrated system. To sum it all up, one of the biggest barriers to achieving true interdisciplinary
study in education environments is the necessity for collaboration.
