Abstract

The following document provides the basic overview of life cycle assessment (LCA) and its
significant. It present the basic stages of conducting an LCA∷ goals and scope definition, inventory
analysis I impact assessment, and improvement analysis. The major stages in an LCA study are raw
material acquisition, material manufacture, production, use/ reuse /maintenance, and waste
management. This document is designed to been on educational tool for learning basics of LCA and
methods of conducting an LCA. This paper also discusses a case study of LCA for 2 MW wind turbine.
