How young people learn foreign languages in Spain

What do most schoolchildren have in common? It’s the fact that they probably learn one or
two foreign languages.

In my country, most children start learning foreign languages at 3 years old. They usually
learn them in pre-school education. However, sometimes, they go to private schools (in
order) to learn more.

This year we are studying maritime English at a vocational training school to be skippers in
the future. We study at IES Galileo in the harbour of Almeria. English is essential in the
international maritime communication. Therefore, we will study it for one year, as it is
compulsory to get our degree. We enjoy a lot these English classes due to our amazing
teacher, Mr. Jose Manuel Leon Romero.

In my opinion, foreign languages are really important to work, travel and meet people
around the world, as well as for personal development and self-esteem.
