Objective: To formulate hand sanitizing gel containing Ethanol 70%w/w and Isopropyl Alcohol 4% w/w

using Carbopol® polymer.

Procedure
1. Disperse Carbopol® Ultrez 10NF by sprinkling on the surface of water. After the polymer is uniformly
wetted, mix slowly at slow speed.
2. Slowly add Ethanol, Propylene glycol and Glycerin with gentle mixing.
3. Mix Isopropyl alcohol, Isopropyl myristate and Tocopheryl acetate and add to the above mixture with
gentle mixing
4. Add AMP-95 drop wise with gentle sweeping motion to minimize air entrapment.
5. Mix until uniform viscosity and a very clear gel is obtained.

Finished product properties:

Appearance: Clear gel

pH: 6.5
Viscosity: 6500 cps, using Brookfield viscometer spindle 4 at 20 rpm
