Wednesday November 20 of this year there was severe floods have caused

the rains and the overflow of the Coatzacoalcos River, where serious effects

have been recorded in the municipalities of Minatitlán and Las Choapas. The

governor of Veracruz Cuitlahuac reported that 70 shelters have been

activated in Ozuluama, Pueblo Viejo, Tempoal, Lerdo de Tejada, Las

Choapas, Coatzacoalcos, Minatitlán, Acayucan, Nanchital, José Azueta,

Hidalgotitlán, Texistepec, El Higo, Uxpanapa, with 6,540 people staying to

receive care after the damage recorded in their homes. The state

government, in collaboration with the Red Cross, the Mexican Navy and the

Army, through the DN-III Plan, addresses the contingency, while, through

legal means, manages the resources of the Natural Disaster Fund (Fonden),

the governor reported. Likewise, 400 brigade members of the Health

Secretariat of the State of Veracruz, carry out health work, in order to inhibit

the possibilities of a health contingency, because after the rains the "health

risk" increases.
