Principal Beliefs
Judaism does not have an official statement of beliefs that all jews must
follow in order to be Jewish. Instead they have widely accepted Jewish
beliefs such as the principal belief in a single God who is the creator and
ruler of the universe.

The principal belief that we will be focusing on it the Principal belief in a


single God who is the creator and ruler of the universe.
One God Creator and Ruler of the Universe
Judaism is a monotheistic religion which means that they only only believe
in one God. This belief is linked and represented through Jewish Sacred
writings and texts such as the Hebrew Bible and the Talmud.

One of the most ancient and important prayers in the Judaism represents
this belief. It is called the Shema.
The Shema
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God; the Lord is one. And you shall love
the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all
your means. And these words, which I command you this day, shall be
upon your heart. And you shall teach them to your sons and speak of
them when you sit in your house, and when you walk on the way, and
when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall bind them for a
sign upon your hand, and they shall be for ornaments between your
eyes.” - Deuteronomy 6:4-9
The Shema
The Shema can be found in the Berakhot which is the first tractate of
Seder Zeraim found in the Mishnah of the Talmud. This belief also comes
into play in the Hebrew Scriptures in the form of the creation story in the
book of genesis where the Jewish belief that God created and continues
to sustain the entire universe.
The Importance of the Shema can also be found in the Hebrew Scriptures
in the form of the story of creation in the book of Genesis/Bereshit within
the Torah.
Structure of The Mishnah
There are six orders of the Mishnah with each of them containing different
tracates, they are.

Seder Zeraim (Seeds)

Moed (Festival)

Nashim (Women)

Seder Nezikin (Damages)

Kodashim (Holies)

Tohorot (Purities)
