TREATMENT AND MEDICATIONS:

Expectant management, this is wait and see approach. Usually if a missed


miscarriages is left untreated, the embryonic tissue will pass and you’ll miscarry
naturally. This is successful in more than 65% of women experiencing missed
miscarriages. If it’s not successful, you may need medication or surgery to pass the
embryonic tissue and placenta.

Medical Management, misoprostol is a non invasive, effective medical method for


completion of abortion in missed abortion. Sublingual misoprostol of 600 ug or
vaginal misoprostol of 800 ug may be a good choice for the first dose. This
medication helps triggers you body source to pass the remaining tissue to complete
the miscarriages.

Surgical management, Dilation and curettage surgery may be necessary t remove


remaining tissue from the uterus. Your doctor may recommendation D&C
immediately following your diagnosis of a missed miscarriage, or they may
recommend it later if the tissue doesn’t pass on its own or with the use of medication.

NURSING INTERVENTION:

ASSESSMENT:
- the presenting symptoms of an abortion is always vaginal spotting, and once this is
noticed by the pregnant woman, she should immediately notify her health care
provider.
- As nurses, we are always the first to receive the initial information so we should be
aware of the guidelines in assessing bleeding during pregnancy
-Ask of the pregnant women’s action before the spotting or bleeding occurred and
identifies ,the measures that she did when she first noticed the bleeding
-Inquire of the duration and intensity of the bleeding or pain felt. Lastly, identify the
clients blood type for cases of RH incompatibility.
- the nurse need to be aware of guidelines for assessing vaginal bleeding quickly
during the pregnancy. The history of episode is important in helping a physician or a
nurse diagnose the cause.

> intensity
> description
> frequency
>Associated symptoms

> blood type
