Objective: Find the area of an object with various methods

Material: Wall diagram card

Procedure:

A wall is built on the edge of a field as in the diagram below. The length of the wall is 120 cm
while the height of the wall is 80 cm. The surface area of each brick is 600 cm2.

(i) Find the surface area of the wall.

(ii) Can you show another way to find the surface area of the wall?

(iii) If four bricks in the middle of the wall are removed to build a window, what is the area of
the remaining wall surface?

(iv) What is the area of the window to be built later?
