1. Why is the six points called the manifesto of freedom for the
inhabitants of East Bengal?
Ans: On 5 February, 1996 there was a summit of the opposition party in
Lahore where Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the Six Point demands in
favor of Bangalees to regain all types of rights. These six points demands
were actually the demand for regional autonomy which meant that while
staying united with West Pakistan, the people of East Pakistan have the
power to rule East Pakistan. For this reason the six points of movements is
called the manifesto of freedom for the inhabitants of East Bengal.
2. Explain the background of Agartala Conspiracy Case.
Ans: Six- point program became very popular among the East Pakistanis and
it got unexpected response. But the Pakistani rulers considered it to be a
great threat to the existence of Pakistan. They called it an anti-state and
separatist movement. The government got very much frightened and
aggressive and ultimately arrested Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
and other leaders, workers and other important personalities. In order to nip
the Six Points Program in the bud, in January, 1968 a sedition charge was
lodged against 34 persons with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the
chief accused. This was known as ‘The Agartala Conspiracy Case’.

3. Discuss what happened as a result of discrimination by the West
