Name of Artifact: Benchmark-Leadership Style and Philosophy

Date of Artifact: October 15, 2020

COURSE #: EAD-501

As an emerging leader. My philosophy starts off with my values and beliefs. I

personally value family, and my religion above everything else. I make all of my

decisions based on my faith and teachings that I have learned through the Bible and

church. My children and my family are my number one motivators. I also value where I

come from and use it to relate to students in all aspects. Everything that I do, I do it for

my children, in hopes that they will someday see me as a role model, and take the best

qualities from me, and build upon it. I Each task that I start is with a Goal in mind, so that

I have somewhere to aim at. When setting goals, I am more motivated to obtain that goal

and succeed. I am a firm believer that you should always treat others the way you want to

be treated. I use that as a way to look at situations in my life, if there is ever something

that I do not agree with, I take a step back, and think about how I would want to be

treated in that particular situation. This helps me with my interaction with people and

helps keep me grounded.

The leadership style from the three that I researched for this assignment that most

closely aligns with my success is a mix between a servant leader and a transformational

leader. I believe these leadership styles go hand in hand with each other to help me

become a great leader. I went to college on a basketball scholarship the first time around,

and value the teamwork approach that Transitional Leaders seem to follow. Delegating

jobs, and using teamwork to have a system run smoothly is essential to be successful. I
also like to be proactive, rather than reactive that Transitional Leaders value. It is always

a great quality to try to prevent things before they happen by being proactive. I also love

to encourage people to develop, and be the best that they can be, and that is where the

Servant Leadership ties into things. Being a motivator to others, so that they can achieve

their goals is so important. I also want to ensure that everyone is treated equally, that I am

there to serve and help in any way possible and building community. I believe that they

are both great ways to lead and taking things from both will help me be the most

successful.

I will act with integrity and fairness by ensuring equality for fair treatment of

everyone to ensure a school system of accountability for student’s social and academic

success. I will do this making sure to be nurturing to all, and to respect the diversity in the

school system for each and every single person. I will be sure to hold everyone

accountable for their academics, and social success by serving as a role model to all.

Modeling how it looks, through examples, and by being an example. I will ensure this by

making sure to have a consistent set of moral principles. This will be possible by having

uniformity throughout the school and making sure to be fair in all aspects. Using my

guidance from the Bible to help me in all that I do. Reading examples from my Bible, and

praying on how to continue to have equality, and fairness in all that I do.

My philosophy is an emerging model of effective and inspirational

leadership through experience, and learning. As a professional, I am always learning, and

know that I will always be changing my philosophy as I gain more experience, and

knowledge. I hope to inspire my students, and staff to be the best that they can possibly

be. I also hope to have an effective method to run a school based on the types of
leadership I have chosen. I plan on doing this by using data and input from students, staff,

and stakeholders to critique, and make it as effective as possible.
